Italian Language Courses

On the first day of the course, students will be given a brief written and oral exam for purposes of evaluating their understanding of Italian and determining placement within the appropriate class.

Courses are offered at six levels of proficiency:

·         BEGINNERS (A1)

·         ELEMENTARY (A2)

·         INTERMEDIATE 1 (B1)

·         INTERMEDIATE 2 (B2)

·         ADVANCED (C1)

·         SUPERIOR (C2)

Note: At the conclusion of one of the above courses, the student’s competency in the Italian language will be consistent with levels determined by the European Union (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 & C2).

Courses normally require a minimum enrolment of 5 students.  If the minimum number is not reached, the school reserves the right to adjust the prices for the course.

INTENSIVE GROUP COURSES (4 weeks each)

These courses are intended for students desiring to learn or rapidly improve their Italian.  Lessons take place daily (from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and include a linguistic-grammatical phase (from 9:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.) and a dialogue-conversational phase (from 11:10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). There is a 20 minute break at midpoint.

80 hours (4 hours/day, 5 days/week, Monday through Friday)

At the end of the course students undergo a final test and receive a diploma.

GROUP COURSES (less than 4 weeks each)

These courses are intended for students who cannot attend a complete course of 80 hours; in that case, they can choose between several solutions:

A. For those who want to attend both Italian grammar and conversation (recommended):

     3 week course   60 hours:  4 hrs/day, five days/wk (Mon-Fri)

     2 week course   40 hours:  4 hrs/day, five days/wk (Mon-Fri)

     1 week course   20 hours:  4 hrs/day, five days/wk (Mon-Fri)

B. For those who want to attend either grammar or conversation:

     4 week course   40 hours:  2 hrs/day, five days/wk (Mon-Fri)

     3 week course   30 hours:  2 hrs/day, five days/wk (Mon-Fri)

     2 week course   20 hours:  2 hrs/day, five days/wk (Mon-Fri)

     1 week course   10 hours:  2 hrs/day, five days/wk (Mon-Fri)

Students who choose a 40 or 60 hour course will receive an Attendance Certificate.

INDIVIDUAL LESSONS

Lessons may be tailored to the needs of the student (level, frequency, duration, etc.).  Lessons may also include an optional lunch with the instructor.

COURSES  FOR CHILDREN

These courses are aimed at the school-age children of our students.  The children learn Italian by playing and having fun with specialised teachers.  Subject to the written authorisation of their parents, children can take part in accompanied tours of the city, to be agreed upon with both parents and teachers.
